Birds are nature’s messengers, and they're broadcasting loud and clear: They are already experiencing the devastating impacts of climate change, and this danger will only grow over time. National Audubon Society’s Chief Scientist, Dr. Gary Langham, will speak about Audubon’s Birds and Climate Change Report, which confirmed that climate change is the single greatest threat to North American birds. Seven years in the making, the report warns that 314 North American bird species could lose more than half of their current ranges by 2080 due to rising temperatures. But there are reasons for hope. By identifying which birds are most sensitive to climate change and where those changes are most likely to occur, this research provides a roadmap for future conservation and advocacy efforts. You will also learn how to help birds adapt to a changing climate by planting bird-friendly habitat in your own yard and neighborhood – and discover new online tools to guide you along the way!
