Let your imagination run wild!
Led by UMass Dartmouth Professor Michael Swartz—an award-winning digital media artist specializing in 3D animation, visual effects, and game art—campers will explore the wilderness through an animator’s eyes. Campers will use elements in nature to design characters and sets, and create a short animated* film to share with friends and family. Campers will learn basic principles of animation, character design, stop-motion animation, time-lapse photography, and computer animation techniques. Each day, the focus will be on animals found in different habitats around the Audubon sanctuary, and the final day will include an opportunity for campers to present their work. Creatures designed during ‘Creature Design Camp’ can be used this week to elevate animated shorts to the next level. Sign up for both weeks and receive $100 off!
Campers should bring a mobile phone or tablet equipped with a camera for research and documentation purposes. *Animation will be done using “Stop Motion Studio” by CATEATER, LLC (there is a free version or a paid version ($5) which has some nice additional features)
