A Bird in the Hand

Have you ever wanted to hold a songbird in your hands?  Here is your opportunity.  Join Audubon Connecticut’s Bird Conservation Programs Manager, Corrie Folsom-O’Keefe September 19th for a morning of bird banding at the charming Audubon Center at the Bent of the River.  You will meet up with Bent staff at the barn at the Bent at 7:30 am for a simple breakfast on the birding balcony and then take a beautiful walk out to the bird banding station.  Upon arriving you will get to see up close some of the birds that call the Bent of the River home.  From Blue-winged Warblers to Indigo Buntings, you will learn about these old field nesting birds, why we band them, and how this information influences the management of the sanctuary.  Plus you may have the opportunity to hold a bird before it is released.  We will be sure to get a picture!  This exciting experience is for ages 5 and up.
