Ducks, geese, and swans are commonplace along the Atlantic Coast, but that doesn’t mean they’re all the same! Join Audubon experts for a fascinating look at this diverse group of birds (presented online on Zoom from two locations within the Atlantic Flyway!). Discover tips and tricks to identify the various waterfowl species you might find from Maine to Florida—and learn about their life history, habitat preferences, and more.

About Ken Elkins: Every birder or nature-lover has a genesis moment—the point at which their passion is born. For educator and naturalist Ken Elkins, the moment he got hooked was at age 10 when he noticed and observed the birds at his grandmother's feeders at her home in Vermont. The experience was fascinating, and Ken has been obsessed with birds and nature ever since. In 2008, Ken joined the staff of National Audubon Society, as the Education Program Manager at Bent of the River Audubon Center. Through his work today, Ken helps students of all ages tap into their passion for birds and nature through STEM education programs, nature summer camp, adult and family programming, and the Bird Tales initiative (a therapy program for people living with dementia).

About Harrison Jackson: Having grown up fishing, hunting, kayaking, swimming, and more on the Chesapeake Bay, Harrison grew to love all things nature. What started as an internship at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, blossomed into undergraduate degrees from Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore—focusing on biology and marine biology respectively. After college, Harrison worked for the Maryland Coastal Bays Program doing education and conservation work before attending Clemson University to obtain his Masters in Wildlife & Fisheries Biology. He currently works for Pickering Creek Audubon Center as a teacher naturalist and outreach coordinator, getting to talk to students and adults all about the amazing wildlife that calls the center home!
